During my 32 years as the Sheriff of San Francisco, many interesting and odd things have happened. Being a history buff, I have also come across stories about former San Francisco Sheriffs that are worth keeping alive. This website is intended to preserve some of the colorful stories and personalities associated with the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department, whether they are about unusual escapes, celebrities who have passed through our barred doors, or other forgotten tales of the jails.
